Triple Nomination for Panto at the Carriageworks Theatre

The UK Pantomime Association’s Pantomime Awards for 2022/23 have been announced and Paul Holman Associates (PHA) are delighted the production of Cinderella at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds has been nominated for three awards.

The fun-filled, fast-paced script created by PHA’s Associate Producer Nick George has been nominated for Best Script and the talented Neha Eapen who played the magical fairy godmother has been nominated for Best Early Career Newcomer.

Cinderella isn’t complete without the iconic ugly sisters and the new partnership of Anna Phylactic and Aaron Steadman is being recognised with a nomination for Best Sisters.

The awards ceremony is due to take place at the Trafalgar Theatre in London’s West End on 11 April 2023 in a night that celebrates pantomime with 22 award categories, including best dame, comic, villain, director, choreographer, to name a few.

The production of Cinderella at the Carriageworks saw Neha make her professional debut after graduating with a degree in Musical Theatre from the Leeds Conservatoire.

Nick George leads on artistic content, scripts and casting for PHA, having been artistic director of Premier Stage Productions, where he produced, directed and wrote live tours of numerous high profile children’s brands. When asked about the production, Nick explained:

“It’s all credit to such a talented cast, crew and creative team who bring what are just words on a piece of paper to life.”

Leeds pantomime audiences didn’t hold back on their reviews of the production with an audience member saying:

“Having a cool 11-year-old boy I was not sure how he would react. However, he loved it and joined in with everything. He especially loved the 12 Days of Christmas and where they put in clips of songs. It was an evening of pure joy and happiness from all the cast. He wants to go again!”

The UK Pantomime Association is a charity that explores, shares and celebrates pantomime by investigating the genre’s rich past, engaging with contemporary practice and inspiring the future. Paul Holman for PHA said:

“Cinderella was a hit with thousands and thousands of people of all ages at the Carriageworks, which has become home to Leeds’s traditional panto. It’s where audiences expect a production that really does combine the older, much-loved elements of panto, mixed with modern, relevant components that entertain all the family. It’s not an easy combination to get right but Nick’s knowledge and creativity brings everything together in perfect panto fashion and I’m thrilled his talent has been recognised along with Neha, Anna and Arron’s superb performances.

“We wish all the nominees the best of luck for the awards night.”
