The “Siren from South Yorkshire” Returns to Leeds Panto

Carriageworks Theatre has announced that award-winning Actress, Singer and Comedian, Myra DuBois will star in the role of the wicked Carabosse in their magical family pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.

The production marks a welcome return to the venue’s pantomime for Ms DuBois who previously starred as Dame Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk in 2017. This year will see her shed the guise of the warm-hearted panto dame to bring both glamour and humour to the role of the quintessential villain, Carabosse. Myra said: “I’m so thrilled to be returning to the Carriageworks Theatre! I had such fun with the Leeds audiences as Dame Trott and being a Yorkshire woman myself this truly is a home-coming! What better way to do it than in the villainous form of the wicked Carabosse! Do bad girls have more fun? I’ll find out!”

The self-declared “Siren from South Yorkshire” is renowned for her trademark acerbic wit as a regular panellist on Big Brother’s Bit on the Side. Myra is currently performing as part of Underbelly’s Little Death Club season on London’s Southbank, ahead of a Soho Theatre transfer of her hit show We Wish You A Myra Christmas this summer.

Producer Paul Holman said: “Ms DuBois had the audiences crying with laughter when she last appeared in the Carriageworks panto and I have no doubt she will again this year – as a hilarious baddie, she’s sure to make an unforgettable impression as she steps back onto the Leeds stage.”

This year’s production promises to be more spectacular than ever with spell-binding scenery and costumes, breathtaking special effects, all the well-loved pantomime traditions and laughs-a-plenty to keep the whole family entertained this Christmas.

Sleeping Beauty runs at Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds, from Friday 22nd November 2019 to Saturday 4th Jan 2020. Tickets are on sale now and can be booked online at www.carriageworkstheatre.co.uk or via the Box Office on 0113 376 0318.
