Emmerdale Beauty to Star in Carriageworks Panto
Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds, has announced that Emmerdale actress Sapphire Elia will star as Belle in this year’s magical family pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, from Friday 23rd November to Monday 31st December 2018.
Sapphire is making a welcome return to Leeds following her time as series regular Mia Macey in ITV’s hugely popular Emmerdale which is filmed at the nearby Harewood Estate.
Recent years have seen Sapphire’s career blossom with recurring roles in ITV1’s musical series Britannia High (which also showcased her impressive vocal talents) and Sky One’s popular football drama Dream Team.
Sapphire’s acting career began at an early age playing the role of Young Cosette in Les Miserable in London’s West End and has since seen her take on roles in everything from Noel Coward’s The Importance of Being Earnest to her latest adventure playing the kind yet feisty Belle in this year’s pantomime.
Pantomime Producer Paul Holman said: “Sapphire is a beautiful young lady with a beautiful personality and singing voice to match. Combined with her exceptional acting talent she was the perfect choice to play Belle.”
Sapphire joins Leeds’ favourite Jez Edwards who will be celebrating his 10th year of bringing laughter to Carriageworks audiences and with all of the traditional elements of pantomime combined with dazzling scenery and costumes, this year’s production promises to be more spectacular than ever.
