Collabro Star Flies on the Magic Carpet to Redditch

Redditch Palace Theatre is delighted to announce that Collabro star Michael Auger will take the title role in this year’s magical family pantomime, Aladdin.

The world’s most successful Musical Theatre group, the Collabro boys met for their first rehearsal only one month before going on to wow the Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams at their first round audition at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Their rousing rendition of Stars; their first public performance as a group; brought both the audience and all four judges to their feet and their overwhelming popularity secured them a coveted spot in the live finals. Collabro went on to win the Eighth series of Britain’s Got Talent with one of the highest majorities in the show’s history. Millions of captivated viewers watched as Collabro claimed their prize, performing in front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the 2014 Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium.

After signing with Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco, Collabro have gone on to enjoy great success with three Top 10 albums to date. Their debut album “Stars” went straight in at number one in the charts beating the likes of Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith to the top spot.

With a legion of loyal fans, known fondly as the Collaborators, the band have been selling out auditoriums worldwide with tours in the UK, America and Asia. In the summer of 2017 Collabro supported Sir Cliff Richard on his ‘Rock N Roll’ tour and they have recently announced that they will be the special guests of Barry Manilow on his September 2018 arena tour.

This Christmas, Michael, who trained at the London School of Musical Theatre, will be stepping into the spotlight on his own to take centre stage as the loveable hero, Aladdin.

Pantomime Producer Paul Holman said; “Michael is the perfect choice for cheeky chappy Aladdin. With his good looks, charisma and breathtakingly beautiful voice, the audience will be cheering him on in this action-packed adventure.”

Michael joins the previously announced star of Strictly Come Dancing, Robin Windsor, who will be granting Aladdin’s three wishes as the Genie.

This year’s production promises to be more spectacular than ever featuring all of the traditional elements of pantomime combined with dazzling scenery and costumes, bucket loads of laughter and a sensational star cast.

Aladdin runs at Redditch Palace Theatre from Monday 10th December 2018 to Sunday 6th January 2019. Tickets for this family favourite pantomime are on sale now via www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk or at the Box Office on 01527 65203.
