A Lyons Touch brings Frost to Folkestone!
With seventeen years appearing alongside Sir David Jason in the ITV long-running hit A Touch of Frost, John Lyons is heading to Folkestone this December to star in Leas Cliff Hall pantomime tale of Beauty and the Beast.
John Lyons is no stranger to stage or screen. His career began under the direction of pioneering theatre genius Joan Littlewood at her legendary Theatre Workshop and included international tours of Littlewood’s much celebrated musical Oh! What a Lovely War.
From performing in the world’s longest running stage show, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, to appearances in classic TV programmes such as The Sweeney, Upstairs, Downstairs and George and Mildred, it’s no surprise that John is an in-demand after dinner speaker as well as regular on P&O Cruises with his one man show, sharing behind the scenes stories from his career.
This pantomime production of Beauty and the Beast will see John play the eccentric professor who never quite makes his inventions work, much to the joy of younger panto audiences.
Proving a stalwart of theatre, this will be John’s 31st pantomime. Producer Paul Holman explained:
“John is a fabulous character actor with great versatility and he’s never afraid to take on something new. Pantomime audiences can expect the unexpected with John; don’t be surprised if he’s rapping or delivering his own take on the latest TikTok dance craze!”
Beauty and the Beast runs from 8 to 31 December at Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone. Tickets can be purchased from atgtickets.com/folkestone or by calling 0844 871 7615.
