The cast of Redditch's Christmas panto has been announced and the star hoping to make sure the glass slipper fits is none other than ex-Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson.
Following the success of last year's production of Beauty and the Beast, starring Bernie Clifton, the Palace Theatre and Paul Holman Associates promises a truly enchanting Christmas show this year, as it presents one of the most popular pantomimes of all time, Cinderella.
Sean Wilson, better known to millions as hapless husband Martin Platt, will play Buttons, and after being in the street for 21 years, he is keen to prove his versatility on the stage.
"I really enjoy pantomime," he said, "it will be a lot of fun and everyone can have a great Christmas after watching a great pantomime. My kids will be coming along and are really looking forward to seeing me."
It's the first time Sean has been to Redditch but he added that he liked it a lot and wanted to see as many people from the town watching in the aisles.
Not content with just one star, the theatre has also engaged the services of Emmerdale hunk Daniel Brocklebank, who played Ivan Jones, as Cinderella's love interest Prince Charming.
"It's a cracking family show full of Christmas cheer," he said.
Cinderella will be played by Holly Vernon-Harcourt, who will be making her professional debut with the show after graduating from the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and is very excited about hitting the ground running.
Other highlights will include Britain's ugliest sisters Darrock and Howe, whose evil antics will give audiences plenty of opportunity to boo and hiss, along with George Gold's gorgeous miniature Shetland ponies and an illuminated pumkin coach to whisk Cinders off to the ball.
