New seats for old at Rickmansworth

On Friday 14 March 2008, Watersmeet had some help from Aladdin and his genie and underwent a magical transformation!

Leader of the Council, Councillor Ann Shaw, and Leisure Portfolio Holder, Councillor Chris Whately-Smith, joined our very own Lee Waddingham and Suzanne David ahead of the forthcoming Aladdin at Watersmeet, for a test sitting of the newly installed auditorium seating.

Out with the old, worn and tired seats and in with comfortable new ones! All the seats have folding arms and seats which flip up when people stand up creating more leg room and easy access to walk through the rows. People will find they can sit comfortably for a good two hours and more without any discomfort.

Viewing the stage still remains as good today as it was with the old seats. Every seat has excellent sight lines and the auditorium now has an increased capacity of 515.

The old auditorium seats have been put to good use and are now being used by congregations at St. Mary’s Church and The Baptist Church, Rickmansworth.

Aladdin will be Three Rivers District Council’s ninth collaboration with pantomime producers Paul Holman Associates, and will be flying on to the stage in December.
