The London based company began auditions for the role of Cinderella back in April. Since then, intensive auditions have been held with wanna-be Cinderella’s singing, acting and dancing for the producers.
After several months of unsuccessful searching, producers arranged another audition day at the end of June and were blown away when they finally found the girl whose foot will fit the glass slipper and she’ll charm audiences to boot! However, the real surprise came when they discovered the young actress comes from Telford.
Lucy Pollard attended The Thomas Telford School and The Gaston Payne School of Theatre before training professionally at Laine Theatre Arts. Since then Lucy has appeared in Movin in Time at the Epsom Playhouse Theatre, Music for Youth at the Royal Albert Hall and has appeared back in her home town at The International Centre in Magic of Christmas and Musicals in Motion at the Oakengates Theatre before returning to the venue in Seussical, playing the role of Miss Gertrude McFuzz.
Lucy said:
“I’m so excited to be back in Telford for Christmas. I get to play every girls dream pantomime role and meet my Prince Charming twice daily and I can spend Christmas with my family. It’s going to be a very special time both on and off stage.”
Lucy will be joining a cast headlined by Strictly Come Dancing’s Camilla Dallerup as Fairy Godmother and two of the countries most critically acclaimed Ugly Sisters, Mark Two and Jamie Steen.
Cinderella’s carriage and all the cast will arrive at the Oakengates Theatre from 7 to 31 December 2012. With tickets already selling fast, people shouldn’t let the clock tick for too long! Booking can be done online at www.theplacetelford.com or at the Box Office on 01952 382 382.
